AT&T dangles $500 in front of DirecTV customers

Plus, customers who also trade in an eligible smartphone will get an additional trade-in credit or promotion card for $200. Having said that, in the event that a family of five members subscribed to AT&T’s U-Verse or DirecTV service switches all five smartphone lines to AT&T, purchases new smartphones with AT&T Next program, has them activated and gives in the old mobile devices to the carrier, they would qualify to achieve credit points worth $2,500 altogether.

The wireless giant has also promised a $10 a month combined bill discount for consumers who combine their TV services with its wireless services on a single monthly bill.

“This is a unique offer and unlike anything we’ve ever done – all to celebrate DirecTV now being part of the AT&T family”, AT&T Mobility chief marketing officer David Christopher said in a statement.

AT&T has another deal that makes use of its recent $49 billion acquisition. The deal requires that customers combine their wireless and U-Verse bills and subscribers will receive the credit for as long as they keep the two accounts combined. The DIRECTV takeover will boost AT&T’s video customer base by an estimated 20.3 million from the current 5.7 million.

Both credits will be received within 90 days of activating service, and from what AT&T’s press release says it can stack as many times as you have lines.

The All in One plan comes with HD and DVR functionalities for four TV receivers as well as unlimited talk and text for up to four smartphone lines.

AT&T today said its capital spending (Capex) will be almost $21 billion in 2015 against the earlier plan of investing $18 billion.

Perhaps the most striking aspect of AT&T’s new “switch lines” offer is that it applies to each individual line that gets switched, rather than being limited to a single credit reward per household.
