Unfortunately for “Hamilton”, the one category in which it is unfancied to win is Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. Seven Hamilton performers were nominated, and in two categories, actors will compete against each other.

The show seems to be up for every award, including the highly coveted Best New Musical.

Mr. Miranda was nominated for writing the show’s book and score-in the latter category he competes against heavyweights like Andrew Lloyd Webber (School of Rock), Sara Bareilles (Waitress) and Steve Martin (Bright Star). And that includes winning a Tony award.

Jessica Lange was nominated for her leadrole in “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”.

“Hamilton” blew us all away once again this morning, racking up 16 Tony nominations.

Spring Awakening, nominated for musical revival, had a cast that included many deaf actors, and their sign language was so beautifully incorporated it felt like its own kind of gorgeous music.

Best play nominees were “The Humans”, “The Father”, “King Charles III” and “Eclipsed”.

After the sixteen nominations in Tonys awards Hamilton now have the aim to meet or break another record of The Producer.

The awards will be handed out June 12, with James Corden playing host from the Beacon Theatre.

“Hamilton” was boosted by nominations across the board, but particularly in acting categories. It also earned nominations for scenic design, costumes, lighting design, direction, choreography, orchestrations, best book and best original score.
