Josh Reddick missed time this season with a fractured thumb. His ceiling might be the highest of the trio, but also comes with a risk factor for how his body will hold up and the fact that three teams now have seen fit to trade him. 296 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs. He launched 20 homers last season. He is 9-3 with a 2.25 ERA this season and is now on the 15-day disabled list due to a blister.

As for the three players the A’s got in return, one American League scout said, “I’d say they did well for two players who will be free agents at the end of the year”.
If Hill comes back and pitches as he did the first half of the season, then the Dodgers have found a true gem. Reddick gives the lineup some much-needed pop, and allows President Andrew Friedman and GM Farhan Zaidi the flexibility to make an even bigger move.
The A’s also were considering a multi-year extension in recent days with the 36-year-old Hill.
The Dodgers completed two other trades, acquiring right-hander Jesse Chavez and cash from the Toronto Blue Jays for right-hander Mike Bolsinger, and picking up right-handed reliever Josh Fields from the Houston Astros in exchange for minor league first baseman Yordan Alvarez. He has a blister so it’s nothing too serious, but he hasn’t started a game since July 7th. Katz said Puig did not travel with the Dodgers to Colorado on Monday after being told he’d either be traded or sent down.
A’s players took the news hard, because Reddick and Hill were among the most popular players in the clubhouse. Cotton dominated Rancho and Tulsa a year ago with ERA’s of 1.61 and 2.30, respectively, but has struggled at AAA.
Cotton, 24, went 8-5 with a 4.90 ERA in 22 games (16 starts) with Triple-A Oklahoma City this year to earn a selection to the All-Star Futures Game.

The New York Yankees continued to sell off their assets when they moved outfielder Carlos Beltran to the Texas Rangers for top right-handed pitching prospect Dillon Tate, Erik Swanson and Nick Green, in a trade that was reported by Jeff Passan. Montas, Holmes and Cotton are all good prospects, but neither of them are considered sure things and all could end up pitching out of the bullpen in the majors.
