San Diego is sending Atlanta $3 million this year as part of the trade: half on August 15 and the rest on September 15.

Kemp has posted a.262/.285/.489 with 23 home runs and 69 RBI in his second season with the Padres, who have worked to trade him for most of the a year ago.
The general manager of Braves, John Coppolella said Kemp did not intend to finish with the worst record.
The Braves also got lefty reliever Paco Rodriguez, minor league pitcher Zachary Bird in that trade along with a completive-balance draft pick, the No. 40 overall selection in this year’s June draft, which they used to select high school lefty Joey Wentz.
Olivera, who was moved from third base to left field before the start of spring training, hit.245, two homers and 13 RBIs in 30 games with Atlanta. So if they can hold on to prospects and not jeopardize the long-term plan of the front office, it’s hard to argue with the addition of Kemp – especially if his previous two teams are footing a large portion of the bill.
Olivera, a 31-year-old Cuban defector, played just six games this season before being hit with an 82-game suspension without pay for violating the league’s domestic-violence policy. (Blue Jays) as players the Padres have traded during this season.
The Major League Baseball trading deadline usually sucks for whatever players are being traded, but not Matt Kemp.
After taking some time to reflect on my career, and the ups and downs I’ve experienced since my MVP-caliber season in 2011, I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I had begun to lose some of my love for the game. The Padres are considering DFA’ing Olivera.

Olivera is on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett but was removed from the lineup before Saturday night’s game.
