Atlanta & DeKalb County investigating employee access to Ashley Madison

A hacker group calling itself the Impact Team released Wednesdsay the personal information of more than 30 million Ashley Madison users, including Global Positioning System location information and their credit card numbers. Avid Life Media has employed a security guard to screen visitors to its midtown Toronto office, and employees leaving the office declined to comment when approached by Reuters on Friday.

The hackers demanded that Ashley Madison and its sister site Established Men be taken down, but the company refused.

Ashley Madison is in full damage control mode right now.

The revelations have led several governmental entities in Alabama scrambling to figure out why email addresses bearing their domains were named in the hacked information, and to figure out how to address that fact in an effective, fair and legal manner.

The law firms’ statement said numerous former users of the website have approached them to inquire about their privacy rights under Canadian law.

It’s an online safe haven where thoughts of infidelity become reality-it was all a dirty little secret with more than 39 million anonymous users until hackers got a hold of the site now.

“The vast majority of the people in there were not smart about it at all”, Salter said.

The fallout continues from the Ashley Madison hack after a new round of leaks was released Thursday night. Others are associated with State of Michigan employees.

Using such a site has become increasingly risky. “So wait, you’re telling me that the website you signed up for to cheat, cheated you, and now they use the rules to protect you…”

The City of Winnipeg said it’s investigating reports that employee emails were registered with Ashley Madison while the province is sending out a memo to staff. But what we found most interesting were the accounts linked to government entities here in Texas, from city email addresses to state ones, and public universities. They probably used a throwaway email address, and I’m sure that most users have at least three emails from Gmail, Yahoo, or a number of sources willing to give out emails.

Hackers, who call themselves the impact team, released a second, bigger dump yesterday. “I never even met anyone”, he said.
