Atlanta, San Francisco and New Orleans to host upcoming national title games

Those games will not be affected by the way the title game bid goes.

South Florida may be hosting a playoff semifinal this season, but it won’t be hosting a national championship game – at least not any time before 2020. The game will be held Monday, January 13, 2020.

U.S. Bank Stadium, the new home of the Minnesota Vikings, was one of the sites in the running for college football’s championship game. “This was a very competitive process”. “Together, we look forward to working with the College Football Playoff to host an unforgettable event and showcasing all that Atlanta has to offer as a host city”.

“New Orleans is an iconic city in college football”.

The inaugural CFP National Championship game was held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The selection was made Wednesday morning in Chicago through a vote by the commissioners of the 10 Football Bowl Subdivision conferences and Notre Dame.

Had Minneapolis won the 2020 game, it would have been a sports championship trifecta.

Is this the day New Orleans breaks its three-game losing streak? “We anticipate hosting many more events of this size in the future”.

“At this point it’s important to thank all those who assisted in developing the winning bid”.

“The cities recognize that, and that’s why we have such dynamic bids”.

The 2018 game was awarded to Atlanta, Georgia. “Our tradition is obviously strong, just like it at the Sugar Bowl”. But the 2020 game in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be the first one since Alabama and LSU met for the 2011 BCS title.

New Orleans has always been a coveted destination for travelers and continues to collect an impressive array of honors and awards. Beginning with the 2014 season, the College Football Playoff ushered in a four-team playoff era. It has 65,000 seats and is expandable to over 72,000 seats for larger events.

That marks another snub for Big Ten cities, which have never hosted a major college bowl game.

The other big factor in not choosing Minneapolis?
