Jose Mourinho has backed Cesc Fabregas, insisting the Spaniard has shown commitment despite some below-par displays for Chelsea this season.

Fresh reports this morning linked him with a return to Real Madrid in the summer, while Paris Saint Germain and Monaco are also interested in his services.

Mourinho was on the brink of being sacked until Chelsea avoided elimination from Europe’s elite club competition with a 2-0 win over Porto at Stamford Bridge.

Asked about the Madrid link, the 52-year-old said: “I imagine myself finishing my contract with Chelsea”. I have three and half years on my contract.

“After that I imagine myself coaching – I wouldn’t say every club, because there are some I would say no to – but I imagine myself coaching any club”, as per West London Sport.

“It is wonderful because if they didn’t remember, there is no way they would treat me and the players like this so for sure we want to play at Stamford Bridge”. What is not normal is what is happening now.

Chelsea have lost eight of their 15 games in the league this campaign, and last week’s 1-0 home to defeat to newly-promoted Bournemouth was potentially the most surprising of them all. “Just because I think he’s unlucky, don’t think I’m lucky”. The fans are being absolutely incredible with us.

“I don’t always know how to react when people are so nice to me. Life is full of surprises – I always wish Atletico the best and I always follow them and support them from afar”.

“Chelsea fans’ memory is fantastic”. ‘They are a very uncomfortable team to play against.
