In an unexpected turn of events, Atlus U.S.A., Inc. announced today that they will be releasing SNK Playmore’s upcoming fighting game, The King of Fighters XIV, in the Americas. The King of Fighters XIV will feature one of the largest character rosters ever in KOF Series’ history – no less than 50 fighters will enter the ring.

There’s also a brand new Party Battle feature that lets two teams of three human players duke it out via online play. THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV will arrive to consoles later in 2016.
If you’re like me and haven’t played much of the King of Fighters series, it sounds like this might be a good entry point.
The Japanese developers have also made improvements to the fighting engine for more streamlined gameplay, making the game more approachable for new players. SNK promises a roster of 50 characters, all of which are available at launch. A new Training mode is present to help ease newcomers into the series, and the “RUSH” feature simplifies move inputs for novices. At this point in the KoF continuity, the King of Fighters Tournament has become a global business. Players compete against CPU-controlled opponents to unlock the storyline.

Headquartered in Osaka, Japan, SNK PLAYMORE CORPORATION (SNK) develops, publishes and distributes interactive entertainment software in Japan, North America, Europe and Asia. The announcement didn’t come with a release date, tough the title is still expected to launch later this year.
