Attack me but don’t suppress poor: Rahul to PM

Speaking at a meeting of the BJP youth wing at Vrindavan in Mathura, Shah also termed the Ram Temple movement as an “expression of nationalism”. “But by crushing, threatening and beating the poor won’t help the country”, Rahul said. Some people want to hold an event to commemorate Yakub Memon and some to commemorate Afzal Guru.

“A different kind of environment is being created in the country wherein anti-national slogans are being raised on the name of freedom of expression”. Mahatma Gandhi never did it, neither did Ambedkar. “He says that students have the right to speech and they should be allowed to speak”, he added. “The Left was the only political group which supported the Congress during the Emergency”, Jaitley said.

Shah also made fun of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to attack Congress and hail Modi’s leadership, saying Singh visited more countries than Modi but his tours made little impact.

Noting that the Modi government was effectively tackling graft, Jaitley said even Congress leaders have not accused the present dispensation of corruption. “The NDA Government is trying to crush the voices of poor and the weak”, he told the media here.

Jaitley defended the party’s aggressive stand on the JNU row and asked BJP workers to take the “ideological battle forward” while talking about the Government’s achievements with pride. Anurag Thakur, the BJP Yuva Morcha president said that the Uttar Pradesh has given the maximum numbers of MPs to BJP in 2014 Loksabha elections.
