Attack targets Trump website, Gawker posts old cell number

“If it is the case – as Trump’s release of Graham’s number implicitly argues – that our political discourse improves when voters can ring up candidates on their private cell phones, then we are happy to add Trump’s cell phone number to the body of public knowledge”, writes Biddle.

Donald Trump, president and chief executive of Trump Organization Inc. and 2016 U.S. presidential candidate, speaks during the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, July 18, 2015.

That still didn’t stop Gawker from trying, but ever so miserably failing, to poke fun at Trump as if they had taken something special away from him. Trump’s campaign responded Monday that the number is out-of-date and unused.

Trump’s campaign downplayed the significance of the number being revealed publicly, telling The Hill that the number is “very old” and not one that Trump uses. Lindsey Graham last month. This is not one he uses. During that episode July 21, Trump held up a card showing Graham’s phone number after the senator called Trump a “jackass” for his comments criticizing Sen. “Mr. Trump has several numbers so this is not an issue”. John McCain’s war record.

“Does [Trump] still think Mexicans are out to rape you?”

But being a gossip site with pretensions to journalism (“Today’s gossip is tomorrow’s news”), the Gawker piece came complete with a series of pretentious questions callers could ask Trump if indeed he answered the outdated number the website had provided. Just how much did he exaggerate his net worth to hit the $10 billion figure?

Upon dialing the provided number, the call went to a full voice mailbox.
