Turkish police at the scene of the incident say the assailant shouted “Allahu Akbar” outside the embassy before being shot in the leg.

The armed assailant was shot as he tried to enter the building in the country’s capital Ankara.
“The staff is safe”.
“There is no casualty or injury, and the Embassy staff is in peace”, the statement said. When the man pointed the knife towards the officer, the officer shot him in the leg. I didn’t see a knife but other witnesses said he had a knife and he would set a bomb off, Gencer told AFP. “The embassy would like to take the opportunity to thank the Turkish police for its professional performance”, it said in a written statement on its Facebook account.
Several embassies in Ankara were closed late last week amid reports of a possible militant attack. In March, a auto bomb claimed by Kurdish militants killed 35 people in Ankara, and less than a week later the Islamic State is believed to have killed four people in a suicide bomb attack in the same city.
Private broadcaster NTV identified the suspect as a man from the central city of Konya.
A Turkish flag flutters atop the Turkish embassy as an Israeli flag is seen nearby, in Tel Aviv, Israel June 26. Turkish media reports initially suggested two assailants were involved.
