Attempting comeback, Stephen Jackson says he’s going to Warriors camp

National Basketball Association superstar Kevin Durant took the sports world by storm Monday, announcing his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder and sign a two-year, $54 million deal with the Golden State Warriors.

And that phenomenon has extended to former players who are out of the league, as guys like Larry Sanders and Stephen Jackson are attempting to come out of retirement to play for Golden State next season. He’s averaged 15.1 points per game in his career. Captain Jack last played for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2013-14 season and was cut after only playing in nine games.

Before that he had his second stint with the San Antonio Spurs, the team he had won a championship with back in 2003, playing there for two seasons, albeit in limited minutes as well.

While that’s all mildly amusing in and of itself, a report on Sunday indicating that Stephen Jackson is attempting a comeback with the Warriors is all sorts of serious.

The report said that Golden State still has two open roster spots left and the Port Arthur, Texas native is looking to snatch one of them next season.

But Golden State Warriors had to exert some extra effort before getting Kevin Durant’s nod to join team, reports Tech Crunch.

Those in the Bay Area will remember Jackson as being a part of the “We Believe” Warriors team back in 2006-07, the organization’s first trek to the playoffs after a 12-year hiatus.
