However, last month the UN Security Council was unable to condemn the launch of a missile by North Korea that landed near Japan because China wanted the statement to oppose the planned deployment of a USA anti-missile defence system in South Korea.

“Going nuclear-armed is the policy of our state”, he said.
North Korea also said if the United States deploys a B-1B supersonic bomber to North Korean airspace it would completely annihilate the USA territory of Guam.
He further underscored that the DPRK will continue to take measures to strengthen its national nuclear armed forces to defend its dignity, right to existence and safeguard genuine peace against threat of nuclear war from the US.
“(North Korea) had no other choice but to go nuclear” to defend itself “from the constant nuclear threats from the United States”, Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho told the UN General Assembly on Friday.
Pyongyang says the tests aim to protect itself from the U.S. military, which occasionally deploys nuclear-powered warships and aircraft capable of carrying atomic weapons in the region.
North Korea’s nuclear and missiles tests have been condemned worldwide and have resulted in several rounds of United Nations sanctions, the most recent of which were adopted in March.
Ri said “the United States will have to face tremendous consequences beyond imagination”.
The naval show of force followed last week’s flight of US Air Force B-1 bombers along the Demilitarized Zone, the closest the powerful, combat-tested heavy bombers have ever flown to the line separating North and South Korea, according to a USA military source.
“KMPR has been described as a part of a “three-axis system” of South Korea’s military in response to North Korea’s provocations, with Korean Air and Missile Defense (KAMD) – Seoul’s homegrown anti-missile systems – and Kill Chain, a pre-emptive strike system by the South Korea-U.S”. Please be fully informed regarding the risks and costs associated with trading the financial markets, it is one of the riskiest investment forms possible.
He further said that the DPRK has made every possible effort to prevent an armed conflict, while taking necessary self-defensive countermeasures whenever the provocative and aggressive joint military exercises were conducted by the U.S. and the Republic of Korea and spoke of the DPRK’s request to hold an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the exercises but was turned away every time.
North Korea has conducted two nuclear tests and test-fired more than 20 missiles this year alone.
Ri dismissed the Security Council resolutions as unfair. “South Korea has a general idea and plan to use precision missile capabilities to target the enemy’s facilities in major areas as well as eliminating the enemy’s leadership”.
“The threat to the global community has become increasingly grave and all the more realistic”, he said Wednesday.
South Korea’s Foreign Minister Yung Byung-se suggested that the North could be stripped of its status as a member of the United Nations for refusing to accept the Security Council’s decisions.

However, such a proposal is likely to be opposed by China, Pyongyang’s ally, which has repeatedly called for a de-escalation of tensions.
