With an emphasis on playing strong non-conference opponents in the regular season, the Penn State Nittany Lions have two future games scheduled with a top opponent from the SEC Conference.

For the first time in program history, Auburn will face a Big Ten opponent in the regular season.

Auburn and Penn State have played in two bowl games, with each team winning once.

Penn State will play host to Auburn at Beaver Stadium on September 18, 2021 and travel to Jordan-Hare Stadium for a meeting on September 17, 2022.

Penn State also added a 2021 home game against Ball State on Monday, per ESPN’s Brett McMurphy. Penn State will be the home team in 2021; Auburn returns the favor the next season.

A home-and-home series in 2019-20 with California is supposedly postponed after the announcement of the Penn State series today. An Auburn spokesperson confirmed the teams would now face each other on September 9, 2023 at Cal and September 7, 2024 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The last such home-and-home matchup between conference powers was the Alabama-Penn State series in 2010 and 2011.

The Lions and the Tigers have played twice before, both in bowl games. “I am very appreciative of (Auburn A.D.) Jay Jacobs’ interest and efforts in making this home-and-home series a reality”.
