Auburn WR Duke Williams sits out second straight practice

For the second straight day Williams missed practice. “Bottom line, nobody is bigger than the team around here”.

With that in mind, Auburn’s coaches have asked Williams, who played at 230 pounds last season, to drop 10 or 15 pounds and play faster next season.

Tigers offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee refused to confirm any specifics to Williams’ absence but said after the practice that the senior receiver was dealing with “personal business” and his return is ” a day-to-day deal”.

This isn’t the first time Williams has had disciplinary issues at Auburn.

The Tigers have national championship aspirations this season, but it is hard to envision that happening without their most talented receiver on the field. He was named preseason All-SEC and is expected to be a serious playmaker for the Auburn offense this fall. While it’s great that their coach believes in their ability, they have yet to prove it on the field after combining for just 29 receptions for 443 yards and four touchdowns in 2014. He was suspended for the Outback Bowl last season after missing a handful of practices. According to reports, Williams posted a picture to Instagram showing what appeared to be an unconfirmed injury to his left eye.
