Audi e-Tron Quattro Concept has a range of 310 miles

Indeed, the Germans are fighting back against the American EV maker, and their most compelling weapon yet is Audi’s e-tron Quattro concept (super original name for your concept there, Audi), which launched at the Frankfurt auto show.

Shaun Cleary, Audi Australia’s senior product communications executive, said the new S4 model will be an important part of the A4 range when it arrives at the tail end of 2016. Audi claims a 0-60 time of less than 4.6 seconds, and a top speed of 130 MPH.

The concept car’s large lithium-ion battery is integrated into the floor of the passenger compartment to provide balanced axle load distribution and a low centre of gravity. The Audi concept incorporates what it calls the Combined Charging System, or CCS, which allows charging with either DC or AC electrical current.

The 95kWh-battery is good for a range of 310 miles while a full charge with a 150kW charger takes about 50 minutes, according to Audi.

The Audi e-tron quattro concept, an all-electric SUV with mid-size dimensions and full-size ambitions. Although it’s a concept for now, the production version is due in 2018. Each piece combines an LED with a flat OLED element. Audi A6 now has a Next Generation Modular Infotainment System which has a retractable screen, there is a voice dialogue system which is intuitive and very easy to use. The extremely thin films can be cut to any desired shape. There are also standard brushed aluminium inlays, S4-badged illuminated door sill trims and a flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel, while the optional Audi virtual cockpit instrument cluster has a special Sport setting with a central rev counter. The larger display on the right is for media and navigation management. The steering wheel serves as an alternate control level. Fully-customizable as it is in the Model X, it can be programed to display a variety of different pieces of information. “Promising additions to its standard equipment include LED interior lighting package and the power-adjustable front seats, along with a host of driver assistance systems such as the Audi side assist and the Audi active lane assist”, the statement further explains. The E-Tron Quattro is a sign of the growing feasibility of electric cars – and with it, a growing demand. The connectivity features in the study are cutting edge. It uses radar, ultrasonic sensors, a video camera, and laser scanners to form a complete picture of the conditions around the vehicle and help the driver avoid obstacles.

The diesel model will have a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with front-wheel drive models coming later, and those models will also adopt the DCT, so they won’t use the CVT any more.
