Aunt suing 12-year-old nephew for thousands over hug that broke her wrist

A Manhattan woman is suing her own nephew after the excited 8-year-old’s hug allegedly caused her to fall and break her wrist. Although hurt, Connell told the jury, she didn’t complain at the time.

Jennifer Connell of Manhattan is claiming that her nephew, Sean Tarala of Westport, Connecticut acted unreasonably when she arrived at his eighth birthday party in 2011.

Ms Connell is seeking compensation because she claims the incident has affected her ability to walk. The boy was playing outside on a new bike when he saw his aunt, dropped his bicycle and ran toward her, gleefully shouting, “Auntie Jen, Auntie Jen”.

“Connell testified that he approached her shouting: “‘Auntie Jen, Auntie Jen!’ This week Connell is asking a six-member Superior Court jury to find the boy liable for his actions. “And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan”.

Connell – a 54-year-old human resources manager – described her nephew in court as “very loving” and “sensitive” towards her, but told Judge Edward Stodolink that the youngster should be held accountable for his behavior.

Not to be confused with actress Jennifer Connelly, this Jennifer is making headlines from folks sharing the articles about her lawsuit aplenty online – and likely checking Snopes and Gossip Cop for the veracity of the story.

However, she said the injury had had a massive impact on her life.

And then there is the damage the injury has done to Connell’s social life.

Now 12-years-old, the child appeared in court accompanied by only his father on Friday, after his mother Lisa Tarala died last year.
