Aussie Dellavedova to stay with Cleveland Cavaliers
Dellavedova will enter his third season in the National Basketball Association with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he played college for four years at Saint Mary’s. He averaged 7.2 points in the postseason. Dellavedova became a fan favorite in Cleveland during their run in the playoffs as he was forced to play huge minutes in the National Basketball Association Finals with Kyrie Irving suffering a knee injury.

Matthew Dellavedova, the Curry-almost-stopping, coffee-chugging Aussie that charmed in the first game apps along the 2015 National Basketball Association Finals, is visiting Cleveland.
He drew praise for his performances in Games 2 and 3 of the Finals, the Cavs’ only wins of the series against the Golden State Warriors. He shot 40.7 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated confirmed McMenamin’s report and added that the “Cavs’ tax situation made offering [him] the $4 million per season he was seeking unrealistic”.
Since the Cavs are over the salary cap, they are only going to be able to resign their own free agents, much like they did Monday with Matthew Dellavedova.
The Cavaliers offloaded little-used center Brendan Haywood and three-point specialist Mike Miller to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.
General Manager David Griffin’s goal was to re-sign the Cavs’ core players this summer, and he has gotten deals done with LeBron James, Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert, James Jones and Dellavedova. Dellavedova has another qualifying offer for next season, so the Cavaliers can make him a restricted free agent again. However, the recent free agency signing of Mo Williams will provide the Australian with stern competition for the role of Irving’s understudy.
BUSY HEAT: The Miami Heat trimmed roster and payroll Monday, trading Shabazz Napier to the Orlando Magic and Zoran Dragic to the Celtics and then waiving forward Henry Walker.
