The incident was Austin’s third fatal police shooting in a week.

Police went to the man’s home in the 9400 block of Claxton Dr., which is off Highway 290 in the Oak Hill area. Police said Lepine would not comply with the officers’ commands and shot him when Lepine pointed the weapon at police.
“As they walked off the porch towards the driveway, they observed the truck that was in the driveway to have blood on the vehicle in multiple places”, said Assistant Chief Brian Manley.
Manley said the man was shot after he fled to the side of the house and was seen pulling something from the back of his shorts.
A weapon was found next to the deceased.
Police say they got a call late Sunday night from a woman in her auto who said she was being followed by a truck.
Sources and neighbors who spoke with KVUE identified the man killed by Austin police Sunday morning as David Lepine, who has a criminal history including assault with intent to murder a police officer. He came through the department’s modified training because he was an officer with a previous experience.
“Although three have happened in very close proximity to each other, they are independent of each other and not any part of a pattern”.

The APD’s Internal Affairs division will be investigating all three recent shootings along with the City of Austin’s police monitor. At that point, police opened fire on the man. There were a total of three cases in 2014.
