When asked “what is fear”, she giggles and responds, “I don’t know…. never heard of it!” I feel bad for those people who have to race her.

Sounds like this guy might be well prepared to be the next coach of the Lakers, Savic’s expertise at treading water just a bonus for a team that, for three seasons running now, keeps sinking deeper and deeper.

Much has been made of the fact that Muhammad will be the first Muslim woman who wears a hijab to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team – ut that is overlooking the fact that she is, fundamentally, a tremendous person and tenacious athlete.

Even then, Boyle came in more than 10 seconds behind Ledecky.

To be sure, Ledecky is sweet. She wants more. She wants more, and that’s insane.

By the end of these Olympics, the Discovery Channel could be promoting “Katie Week”.

The American has smashed the 800 meters world record four times in three years, taking Briton Rebecca Adlington’s previous benchmark of eight minutes and 14.10 seconds down to the current 8:06.68. “I’ve had a lot of fun”.

At last year’s World Championships in Kazan, Russia, she won every event she entered, from 200 meters to 1,500, and set three world records in the process. Given the praise from fellow swimmers, there’s far more substance than sensationalism surrounding Ledecky.

The 19-year-old Ledecky is a freestyle phenomenon who looks set for a golden haul across a number of events.

Not that she saw it that way. Please see our terms of service for more information.

While Phelps will say so long to the Olympics over the next 10 days, surely adding to his record 22 Olympic medals, Ledecky is not only ready, but expected to become the next swimming superstar to transcend her sport.

Barrowman: I had broken the American record in 1988 and was the first person from the D.C. area in a very long time to have a shot at a gold medal. In Rio, she’ll be competing in the 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, and 4x200m freestyle.

So, anything less than that here would be – that’s right – unexpected. Really, she has hardly put a stroke wrong the past four years, so obviously she’s the main competitor for me. She began fencing at 13, was a three-time All-American at Duke University (where she got dual Bachelor’s degrees in International Relations and African and African-American Studies, no bigs) and then went on to train at the Peter Westbrook Foundation in NY, which teaches fencing to kids in underserved communities.

Michael Phelps of the US poses with his gold medal after winning the men’s 4x100m medley relay final during the London 2012 Olympic Games at the Aquatics Centre August 4, 2012. For the second time in Olympic history, there will be more women athletes (292) than men (262) on Team USA, including 69 women with ties to the Pac-12 (23.9 percent). Her godfather Fr. Jim Shea, S.J., and several Stone Ridge teachers cheered her on at the Olympic Trials this year, and many more former classmates and teachers sent supportive messages, according to the Catholic Standard. “Not to equate it to something so insane, but, childbirth, you forget how gnarly it is”. In Rio, Biles will be joined by 2012 gold-medalists Douglas and Aly Raisman, plus two promising newcomers (solid all-arounder Laurie Hernandez and uneven bars expert Madison Kocian), a quintet that’s widely held to be the one to beat in the group competition.

And with the Olympics, the only diaper you might have to change is your own.

As much as the USA star wanted to save American hopes, it was asking too much in an event the women haven’t won in 20 years.

“We want to get back out there because last time we were like, ‘Holy (expletive), we have no idea what’s going on, ‘” he said. We know it’s coming, it’s not even the fault of corrupt officials, and there is nothing we can do about it.
