Australia win second Test over West Indies by 177 runs
AUSTRALIA earned an extra day off after securing a 177-run victory over the West Indies at the MCG, but that may not be enough to see paceman Josh Hazlewood play a home Test at the SCG.

Former Test opening batsman Justin Langer will fill in for Darren Lehmann as Australia’s coach during next year’s ODI tri-series in the Caribbean, Cricket Australia said on Monday.
“It’s momentum and stepping over the line, it’s obviously something I have to work on because it cost us a bit of time today and a few runs”.
“I’m proud of the guys to show some fight in this game but I’m still disappointed we didn’t put up a better fight”.
At 150/5 began the partnership between the West Indies skipper and the wicket-keeper.
Jerome Taylor finished the innings with best figures of 2-97, but it was a meek effort by an inexperienced West Indies attack.
Carlos Brathwaite’s luck ran out when he spooned a high return catch back to Lyon in the final over before lunch, ending a dogged 90-run stand with Bravo.
The in-form but overworked Aussie spearhead is a chance to be rested from the New Year Test at the SCG, starting January 3, after an impressive summer.
Carlos Brathwaite lasted just four deliveries before being bowled by man-of-the-match Lyon, who claimed 3-85 for seven wickets in the match.
Although Holder soaked up another half-hour with fellow paceman Kemar Roach, he spooned a catch off Marsh straight to mid-on in the day’s 87th over and it ended quickly from there.
The last time the West Indies batted for more than 80 overs in both innings of an overseas Test was against England at Lord’s in May 2012.
Fifteen minutes before lunch, Pattinson thought he had Chandrika LBW, and after Marais Erasmus declined the appeal, the Australians wanted to review the decision but were unable to do so they had taken more than the allotted 15 seconds to decide.
Australia had scored a total of 551 runs at the loss of three wickets when they declared in the first innings with Joe Burns, Usman Khawaja, Adam Voges and skipper, Steve Smith, each scoring 100 plus runs.
Pattinson had two wickets denied to him for overstepping on Sunday’s third day, and to Australia’s frustration it was the wicket-less Hazlewood’s turn on the fourth day.

The pair added only 19 further runs before Peter Siddle struck to remove Bravo for 21 with a teasing delivery that the Trinidadian chased with a driving bat, only to nick to wicketkeeper Peter Nevill. The visiting team have been bowled out on the fourth day of the test match at 282 in 88.3 overs.
