“Countries adjoining Syria and Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and others are bearing the brunt of millions of people fleeing into their borders and then into Europe. Yes, ISIS was contained in Syria and Iraq but it is expanding actually in Libya at the moment, and I don’t believe the US is doing enough to beat ISIS or to achieve a clear victory there”.

Last week, the US formally asked for an extension of Royal Australian Air Force targets.

Australia has six RAAF F/A18 combat jets and two support aircraft, based in the United Arab Emirates, taking part.

Bishop separately told Australia’s Channel Ten that air strikes were a risky proposition. They have claimed that area. The FSG was formed in Tunis in 2012 at U.S. instigation illegally to overthrow the Syrian government and organized a covert war of aggression using supposedly “moderate” Syrian mercenaries.

Isil are poised to seize Marea in a move that could shake up the multifaceted dogfight for northern Syria, weakening rebel defences around the second city of Aleppo and bringing Isil closer to the edge of a prospective US and Turkey-backed buffer zone which is supposed to be free of the jihadist militants.

The Australian government was waiting on legal advice, but would also contact Tehran before proceeding, she said, adding, “We also need to speak to the Iranians, who are heavily involved in both Iraq and Syria”. Cabinet’s national security committee will meet this week to discuss the issue.
