Police have conducted a steady stream of raids across the country since the government raised the nation’s terrorism warning level in September 2014 in response to the domestic threat posed by supporters of the Islamic State group.

“Two people have been arrested by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team Sydney as part of the ongoing Operation Appleby”, the Australian Federal Police said, with a media briefing due later in the day.
The men arrested on Thursday were involved in “formulating documents connected with preparations to facilitate, assist or engage a person to undertake a terrorist act”, it said.
Guardian Australia reports one of those arrested is reportedly a 15-year-old boy who’s been taken to Bankstown Police Station for questioning.
The arrests were carried out by officers from the Australian Federal Police and the New South Wales Police.
“As this is an ongoing operation no further comment can be provided at this time”, the statement said on Thursday.
They recovered nothing of interest, according to NSW police.
“As a result of putting all of that information together, working through those documents, putting physical and electronic surveillance together, we were able to build a case of conspiracy for five people involved in the preparation of these documents”, Phelan said.
Burn said police will be seeking that bail is refused for the 15-year-old boy.

Both of the suspects arrested on Thursday will appear in court later.
