A seven-year-old girl’s body was discovered in a creek just 25 minutes after being reported missing while watching a peewee football game with her mom, police said.
Investigators say the stadium announcer called her name after her parents lost sight of her. After the third call, the game actually stopped and the community starting searching for the 7-year-old.
“This could happen anywhere, very quickly”, police spokesman B.J. Eaton told WBKO-TV. “I think it’s safe to say Allen County has changed forever”.
The medical examiner’s office in Louisville will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The investigation is being conducted by the Detectives of KSP Post 3 and is being handled as a homicide.
