The driver of the bus, identified as Brian Andre Kirkpatrick, 43, of Chester, South Carolina, was among the four victims.

Jeff Gordon said the crash occurred about 2:35 p.m.

The bus was carrying a Rockhill football team to a game in Fayetteville.

Rahma Juco players were headed to Fayetteville’s Lake Rim Park to take on University of God’s Chosen.

The charter bus was taking a group of college students from the Rock Hill, S.C., area.

Troopers believe a blown out front tire caused the driver to lose control of the bus and crash.

Hollingsworth says it’s unknown how long before Ramah Juco’s team is back on track. Authorities said injuries ranged from critical to minor in nature.

Coach Derrick Crawford said on his Facebook page this was Ramah Academy’s first game ever and invited fans to come out and wish the team luck before they left Saturday morning. He was able to walk off the bus and was checked out at a local hospital.

“A lot of people hurt, people killed, family members, loved ones, kids, college kids which is pretty much kids you know so it’s just a rough day”, said Davis.

Although Hamilton jumped around schools, the offensive and defensive lineman played mostly at American Heritage School at 6200 Linton Blvd., where he graduated in 2014. Classes at the college will be cancelled Monday and counseling will be available for students.

The statement from the school went on to say that the two young men were “entrenched parts of the Clinton College family”.
