Early said murder charges are likely to be filed against Michael Sugarman, WCVB reported.
The little girl led police to her home, where officers peeked through a window and saw a man with a knife in his neck.
Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr. said today officials are investigating a crime scene at 55 Worcester Road (Route 140), which left one person dead and one hospitalized.
After questioning the child, they brought her back to her house where they first found a man on the kitchen floor with what appeared to be a knife in his neck, the post stated.
Former Whitesboro resident Kelly Sugarman, who had recently moved to Massachusetts, was found dead at 6 a.m. Wednesday morning in her home in Grafton, Massachusetts. The police officers continued to search the house and found Kelly Sugarman, 36, deceased on the floor in her bedroom.
Michael Sugarman worked in construction and Kelly Sugarman had a clerical job, said Brett Helmer, a friend who described them as a “sweet couple” who were devoted to their daughter.
The girl was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Police say an autopsy will be conducted on the mother to determine an exact cause and manner of her death.
“This has been a tough day for all the police involved”, he said of what he called a “heartbreaking situation”.
The girl was taken to a hospital to be evaluated and was eventually released to the Department of Children and Families.
