A cadaver dog found the remains of 20-year-old Elisha Walker on Thursday.

Arias is a known Latin Kings gang member who has long been considered a suspect in the investigation, WJZY reported.

Walker normally stays in contact with family and friends via phone calls, texts, and Facebook postings, but has done none of that since October 23. A search of Arias’ former Salisbury home in July and other information led to a search warrant being executed at the Johnston County home, deputies said. A small depression was found and excavated where law enforcement discovered human remains.

The Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh positively identified the remains as Walker. He is being held under in the Johnston County Jail awaiting transport back to Rowan County.

Angel Arias was already being held in the Johnston County Jail on unrelated drug charges. Investigators believe the vehicle was intentionally set on fire.

“Deputies say Walker is 5’8” and weighs around 120 lbs.

While Walker was born a man, family says she identifies herself as a woman. Deputies said in a statement in November that Walker was “reported to live an alternative lifestyle of a non-heterosexual male”.
