Autonomous car breakthroughs to be featured at gadget show
Faraday Future, a company that believes the automotive experience should integrate seamlessly with the rest of your life, has shown off its concept auto at CES 2016.

Unlike other electric cars, the FFZERO1 is a racecar that in theory will have 1,000 horsepower and do 0-60mph in under three seconds. One of the fastest rising names in the world of automobile technologies is that of the Faraday Future, which is still shrouded in mystery.
What’s interesting about the FFZERO1 Concept is the fact its modular platform – known as “Variable Platform Architecture” – is highly adaptable.
With a claimed top speed of more than 200mph, a helmet that feeds the driver water and oxygen, and “Aero tunnels” to drag air in and cool the batteries, the FFZERO1 seems more suited to racing than day-to-day use. “We can change the number and power of the drive systems”, Faraday R&D and engineering senior VP Nick Sampson told The Verge.
This electric, high-performance Concept, coupled with the electric optimized VPA gives FF the edge in the brand’s ability to support a wide range of vehicle sizes and types.
Sampson remarked that once Faraday starts delivering its first production vehicle in a couple of years, the company will take advantage of digital design and test parts and molecular construction to be quicker than competitors.
The company also unveiled a new battery-pack design that utilizes a multi-cell solution where both individual cells and groups of cells can be replaced. They have signed a $1 billion deal to build their initial factory in North Las Vegas, with plans to break ground in the next few weeks.

FF also announced a deep alliance with Chinese electronics company LeTV. The interiors are packed with futuristic features such as a smartphone in the steering wheel, touch screens surrounding the driver, and a cockpitlike layout for the driver (the vehicle can only seat one). Since the technological platform on which the FFZERO1 Concept is build is easily modifiable, we can expect sedans, SUVs and even a Faraday pickup in the not-too-distant future.
