As for the cause of death, Olson said there were no signs of trauma to Prince’s body, which he explained to mean that “there was no signs of violence”.

Olson told media he and other officers have naloxone, which counteracts the effect of an opiate overdose, but he said it was not used at all Thursday. He was found by staff members who went to the compound the next morning when they couldn’t reach him by phone.

As far as what Prince was wearing (after a reporter asked), Olson said he was wearing a shirt and pants-“He was in clothes”.

“Prince was a very private person, and I don’t think it would be unusual for him to be there by himself”, Olson said. “To you, Prince Rogers Nelson was a celebrity; to us, he’s a community member and a good neighbour”.

An autopsy was conducted Friday at the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey, Minnesota, but it could be days or weeks before results are complete, spokeswoman Martha Weaver said.

As the world mourns the death of Prince, it has just been reported that his autopsy results are expected to take weeks to complete.

Prince was a Jehovah’s Witness which required a funeral to take place within a week of his death.

Mr Olson’s spokesman cautioned, however, that the investigation was ongoing and that the sheriff may be unable to answer the most pressing questions. It’s early in the investigation, and we will continue to investigate…

The seven-time Grammy-winning artist was discovered slumped in an elevator at his estate in Chanhassen, southwest of Minneapolis, US, and was pronounced dead at the scene Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson said. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

Fans of the late legendary singer were shocked to hear of the 57-year-old’s passing, as it seem to come out of nowhere; however, Prince has experienced some ups and downs in recent months, especially with his health.

Meanwhile, Weaver thanked the public for its respect during the investigation, saying Prince “was the songbook and narrative” in much of everyone’s individual lives.

However, TMZ reported that hours after the show, early in the morning on Friday, Prince’s plane had to make an emergency landing on its way back to Minnesota to get him medical help.

The sheriff said Prince was last seen alive by an acquaintance who dropped him off at Paisley Park at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
