Mercedes-Benz is busy expanding its wings across the country. The company sold 3,093 cars this year in the period compared to the 2,163 auto it sold last year.
Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network announced today that the company has retailed a record-breaking total of 22,265 units so far in 2015, which represents the best ever first half of the year sales results in the history of the company. Mercedes sales were up 5.8% to 28.044 units.
“For the luxury segment, what’s hot and new and fresh and exciting doesn’t last quite as long as it does in non-luxury”, said Alec Gutierrez, an analyst at KBB.com. “What’s fresh is what’s going to sell”. For the first half of the year, BMW sales rose 7.1% to 168,623.
June sales for the Mercedes-Benz brand were led by the C-, E- and M-Class model lines. The results exclude Daimler’s Sprinter vans and Smart cars and BMW’s Mini brand, which aren’t luxury vehicles.
On the Mercedes-Benz Vans side, the division reported its best month ever with a total of 500 units sold in June, surpassing the existing all-time record of 479 units sold in May 2015.
“Sometimes an SUV’s versatility can be sacrificed in the name of style, but the new GLC-Class will be both sleeker and more practical as the replacement for the GLK-Class”, said James Buckley, general manager of Smith Motor Sales, a Mercedes-Benz dealer in Haverhill, Mass. “Combine those qualities with a beautifully designed interior and advanced technology features, and you’ve got a very popular luxury SUV on your hands”. For the year, Lexus deliveries have climbed 15 percent to 158,848. That was the brand’s third-best month since entering the U.S.in 1970, following May sales that ranked second.
