Avengers: Infinity War 1 and 2 Will Get Title Changes

Highlights of the upcoming slate include the universe’s first solo film led by a black superhero, Black Panther, in 2018; the first solo film led by a female superhero, 2019’s Captain Marvel;Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in 2017; and a two-part Avengers extravaganza in 2018 and 2019 (Infinity War 1 and 2). This is what one calls “an incredibly high degree of difficulty”, and the writers join directors Anthony and Joe Russo in sticking the landing. We have reached out to Marvel Studios for confirmation, but we have not yet received it. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is, at this point, a self-perpetuating cycle. Their analysis found that out of eleven films released by Disney previous year, exactly zero featured LGBT characters. The Russos admitted that they haven’t come up with suitable replacements for the names just yet, and they don’t know when they’ll announce the new titles, but I’m still glad to hear the news.

Along the way, they can also expect a whole lot of myth-building, a whole lot of comic-book philosophizing, hints of modern-day relevance and – if we’re being honest – a whole lot of jawboning that could have probably been dispensed with. Although Iron Man played a somewhat anti-hero role in “Captain America: Civil War”, moviegoers still felt his superhero presence in the film. “The answer to the question of why Marvel Studios” gambit worked out so very well is more complex than many realize, but one simple explanation is that there’s a certain standard of quality expected from modern Marvel movies, one that’s been consistently delivered upon with each production within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Luckily for all of us, that apparently won’t be an issue anytime soon with Captain America.

In the latest Captain America movie, Chris Evans’ titular character clashes with Downey Jr.’s Iron Man over a controversial government policy meant to regulate the superheroes.

Renner himself admitted he hasn’t even seen the complete movie yet, so watching it today with the airmen and airwomen will be a treat for him, also. Still – whether it’s because the series remains true to the nature of the character, or because Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFeely know how to pen a compelling superhero flick – Steve Rogers shoulders the most reliable “Avengers” franchise.

Audiences will see if they keep their word when Captain America: Civil War finally has Team Cap and Team Iron Man fight on May 6. Unlike in Batman v. Superman where the two icons battle without really trying to understand one another, Civil War takes the time to set up why a conflict is necessary and how #TeamIronMan and #TeamCap are formed.
