‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Pulls Record $630 Million Worldwide in Opening Weekend

In addition, Avengers: Infinity War exceeded expectations by beating The Fate of the Furious (2017) with $541.9 million for the biggest global opening as well.

The figures are not adjusted for rising ticket prices or other inflationary factors. That set a new global record even before the movie opens in China (where it’s slated to start May 11), a massive movie market. Then the movie opened in the USA and in North America, it minted $105 million bringing the total to $200 million.

Avengers: Infinity War is not just the most ambitious crossover event movie but also a delight for every cine-goer.

The previous Avengers film, Age of Ultron, is the highest grossing superhero Hollywood film till date, as it made Rs 77 crore.

Avengers Infinity has become the biggest Thursday gross and earns $95 million in 43 countries. Earlier today, it was announced that the 19th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was officially the record holder for the biggest-ever weekend opening. Infinity War ranks as the No. 2 foreign bow of all time.

Dwayne Johnson’s giant-animals-on-the-loose action flick Rampage was fourth with $7.1 million ($77.9 million total).

Avengers: Infinity War has already been certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and received an “A” score on its CinemaScore from audiences. The company’s summer slate, which includes another Marvel movie and “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, will be key in reviving the North American box office and generating growth for theater owners after a tough 2017.

Pretty much the entire lineup of heroes, from the original Avengers, to second-wave additions like Scarlet Witch and Vision, to recent introductions like Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, are present for the big showdown fans have been waiting for. “Avengers: Infinity War” displayed a small drop from its Friday’s collections, but the numbers could rise on Sunday (holiday), and followed by Monday and Tuesday, which are also non-working holidays in some parts of India.

It comes as a shock to precisely no one who’s paid attention that Infinity War is going to be the biggest movie of the year, barring a miracle elsewhere at the box office.
