AWS launches two new Korean datacentres

According to Pacific Crest analyst Brent Bracelin, however, AWS’ profit margins may fall thanks to the business investing in moving into new regions. Since its launch locally in May 2015, over 1,000 Korean students are participating in AWS-related classes and non-profit e-learning programs, such as “Like a Lion”. Another new AWS region will be activated in the U.S.in OH, bring to four the total AWS regions to be opened in 2016 – a record expansion.

The company additionally touts an easier setup process as the product becomes generally available.

With competition heating up in the public cloud sector, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has started the new year with a price reduction on some of its Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) service offerings in several regions, including Australia.
“I am happy to be able to announce that we are making yet another EC2 price reduction!” said AWS evangelist Jeff Barr on the division’s blog. WorkMail integrates with the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol including Android, Blackberry 10, Fire Phone (does anyone actually use one?), iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, and Windows Phone.
Amazon’s WorkMail costs $4 per user, per month, which includes 50 GB of mailbox storage per user.
WorkMail supports OS X, including Apple Mail and Outlook.
