Baba Rahman passes Chelsea medical

Chelsea are on the verge of making their third signing of the summer as Augsburg full-back Adbul Baba Rahman has reportedly completed his medical ahead of a £21m move, according to the Daily Express.

The 21-year-old helped his side to their highest-ever Bundesliga placing in 2014/15, and in doing so helped Augsburg to secure their maiden Europa League berth for the current campaign.

The Augbsurg defender had emerged as Chelsea’s main target in recent weeks, with Jose Mourinho keen to strengthen his options at left-back following the departure of Filipe Luis.

Baba has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the last month or so, but the club have been embroiled in negotiations for a while now as they struggled to find the right payment structure.

The Augsburg left-back is an immediate alternative for Luis and considered in the most productive in his postiion within the Bundesliga final season.

Chelsea first team manager Jose Mourinho says the controversy around his medical staff has not affected his players’ preparations to face Manchester City this weekend.

Rahman should displace the impeccable Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back, however appears to have selected Chelsea over Roma, who have been additionally willing.
