A toddler was kidnapped from a Palmdale motel, prompting authorities to issue an Amber Alert in Southern California. However, officials said detectives later determined he wasn’t involved in the crime.

A neighbor was also found to be looking into the sound of crying coming from the shed, the sheriff’s statement said. That’s about 40 miles distant from the Motel 6, where the mother said it was the last time she had seen her baby. They told authorities that they were on their way to pick up the girl to surrender her at a fire station.
Wynn and the teenage boy have been booked for investigation of attempted murder. At the time, deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster Station said Holmes was suspected of sexually assaulting the girl’s mother and then leaving her alone in the desert.
Authorities identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jonathan Holmes, who was driving a brown 2001 BMW with the license number 7-E-V-A-5-4-9.

He said Holmes and the baby’s mother knew each other but provided no further details.
