“She was just taking care of the child and putting him down”, Du Bois said.

A 20-year-old caretaker was arrested after a hidden nanny camera caught the woman allegedly suffocating a 13-month-old boy when he wouldn’t stop crying, police said. The video shows the child crying as the California nanny carries him around the room and then bends to lower him into his crib, KRON 4 News reports. The baby began to squirm and kick and soon went limp, Burruss wrote. “He then went limp”, the report states.
Gonzalez has been arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse, according to the Livermore Police Department.
Moriah Pulani Gonzales has been charged with felony child abuse after allegedly causing harm to the child she was babysitting.
Authorities say the victim’s parents hired Gonzales through the caregiver website Care.com, which bills itself as “the largest online destination for care”. One of the boy’s parents discovered the video footage about four hours later, asked Gonzales to leave and called police, according to Burruss.
Gonzales is seen flinging the toddler, face-up, over her shoulder, the officer said.
She then puts him back in the crib and leaves the room, according to the report. As her hands move closer to the boy’s face, his cry becomes muffled, police said. As Doe lay in a supine position over Moriah’s shoulder, his arms extended outward as if he was limp.
Du Bois told reporters outside the courthouse Friday that Gonzales has been “absolutely demolished” by the accusations.
Livermore police on Thursday ended up firing shots at a man they say was suicidal, and who had apparently killed himself in the police station parking lot before they shot their guns.
When the baby’s parents got home and reviewed the tape, Gonzales was still in the home, police said. “You can’t trust anybody with your kids, you can’t”, said Van Hoose. “The safety of our community is of paramount importance to us and we have proactively contacted local law enforcement to provide whatever assistance we can in this matter”.

Care.com released a statement following the incident, saying the company is “deeply troubled” after hearing what happened.
