Bach: Boston failed to deliver on ‘promises’ to USOC
Bach also said he hopes the decision on the next U.S. bid city will involve discussions that are a little bit more oriented on facts than emotions.. Were sure that USOC will deliver on this commitment, and that we will have on the 15th of September, a bid from the United States..

On the one hand, the notion that the city I love would be elevated to the world stage for three full weeks, (not to mention the build-up) was pretty heady. “I think it was cumulative”. By that afternoon, Boston’s Olympic bid was officially dead.
When Los Angeles hosted the Olympics in 1984, the games were such a financial success that they ran a surplus, the proceeds from which established an endowment which still funds youth sports in the city.
But that experience is its selling point. The IOC adopted a series of reforms to clean up the organization, including a ban on member visits to bid cities, creation of an ethics commission and establishment of age and term limits.
The Staples Center, StubHub Center and Nokia Theater would be ready to host events.
The Games would be split between stadiums and arenas in both Southern and Northern California.
Embarrassing as the debacle in Boston may have been, chances are it will be nothing more than a distant memory when the vote for the 2024 Olympics finally rolls around. And much of L.A.’s ongoing transformation in transportation should be complete by 2032-giving Southern California the chance to show off its new Metro rail system.
Los Angeles, one of the cities Boston beat earlier this year for the U.S. bid, is the new front-runner for the chance to be fleeced.
The USOC cut ties with Boston on Monday, with less than two months to find a replacement for a race that includes Paris; Rome; Hamburg, Germany; and Budapest, Hungary.
Blatter was not in Kuala Lumpur, apart from last week’s trip to Russian Federation for the World Cup draw he has insisted on staying safely at home in Switzerland, where he has remained ever since the corruption arrests of May 27.
And if you thought hotels would be a problem, the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau says there’s almost 1,000 hotel properties in the LA County area, with more than 97,000 available rooms.
With Boston out of the bidding, the dream of the 2024 Olympic games in California could still become a reality.
Boston’s bid to host the 2024 Olympics is over. “This requirement for a taxpayer guarantee is something that they’re going to have to look at long and hard, and clearly it’s something that Mayor (Martin) Walsh pointed to today as a potential obstacle or hurdle moving forward”.
That frustrated USOC officials, who would push Walsh in vain to reaffirm his commitment to sign the contract before Boston 2024 chief executive Steve Pagliuca and the USOC jointly announced Monday that the bid was over.

Bach declined to comment directly when asked if Los Angeles was his personal choice.
