Bach defends International Olympic Committee handling of Russian doping scandal
It comes after Team GB appointed a plumber to stay with them in the Olympic Village amid fears over the quality of their accommodation in Rio.

He went on: “The statement sends a strong signal and recalls that all states parties having signed the UNESCO Convention against doping in sport should fulfil the obligations in the convention”.
“That’s a very, very, very high percentage”, said Dr. Valerie Harwood, chair of the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of South Florida.
“The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has taken note of the views expressed by some concerning the timing of publication of the Agency’s independent McLaren Investigation Report, which was published by Professor Richard H. McLaren on 18 July, exposing Russian State manipulation of the doping control process; and, the Agency’s subsequent recommendations – both that led to the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) decision of 24 July.
“We are more confident than ever that we will have great Olympic Games in Rio in five days from now”.
The IOC’s rejection of a full ban has been harshly criticized by many anti-doping bodies, athletes’ groups and Western media.
On Google, when you search for “Olympics” or a similar query, an in-depth search result will be displayed at the top of the Search page or in your Google app, allowing you to get information for a specific country, sport, event or athlete.
The clean-up campaign has been complicated by the McLaren Report into Russia’s state-sponsored doping programme.
Tests indicate some 1,400 athletes are at risk of getting violently ill in water competitions and tourists also face potential health risks on the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana.
Despite the backlash against the IOC decision, Bach said the committee had “broad support” across the Olympic movement, including from national Olympic committees and sports federations.
“They have lit the fuse and then retreated into a bunker”, Coffa told The Australian newspaper.
The IOC also ruled that Stepanova could not take part in the Rio Games, but has invited the couple to Rio.
“It is important the International Olympic Committee takes the final decision based on independent advice”.
Last year, the first results of the same AP study showed viral levels up to 1.7 million times worse than what would be considered risky in the United States. Russia’s entire weightlifting team was kicked out Friday.
WADA said it set up a commission headed by Dick Pound to investigate allegations of systematic doping made in a documentary by German broadcaster ARD in December 2014.
Adamfi told an anti-doping conference in Russian Federation earlier this year that weightlifting’s status as an Olympic sport could not be taken for granted.
The lawsuit claims ISF violated WADA standards by handpicking athletes who were tested, and notifying them ahead of time.

Since then, WADA director general Olivier Niggli said, the agency “facilitated the transfer of relevant information that is available to date” about individual Russian athletes to the various worldwide federations.
