Back injury forces Day out of The Barclays

Woods missed the playoffs and won’t play again until October, but his rounds are likely to be featured when he’s on the course.

The PGA Tour partnered with Major League Baseball Advanced Media, which created PGA TOUR LIVE.

“The PGA Tour has been great in getting the best groups”, Bowman said. “We obviously want Martin playing with us”.

Day is second in the FedEx Cup standings and tees off with Spieth and Bubba Watson.

PGA TOUR LIVE, which rolled out in July, fills a void for golf addicts who’ve long complained about missing rounds by marquee players if their tee times don’t happen to fall during the traditional TV broadcast.

In the final leg of the tournament, a reset takes place, seeding the top-30 players to compete in the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola in Atlanta, where the FedEx Cup Champion will hoist the trophy. But if he takes his home tour exception, he is not required to ask for any releases.

“Here, this is for you, it’s yours, ” Day told the youngster. “And that is the situation he finds himself in right now”. “It will help on the grassroots level too“, he said.

What has changed in the eight years since the Tour began the postseason experiment, however, is how closely these final four events resemble an actual playoff.

That’s not to say golf’s version of a postseason fits perfectly into the preconceived notion of a playoff, starting with essentially 100 percent participation (125 players) at this week’s Barclays. But because he is a lifetime member (with 20-plus victories) and not a dual tour member, his penalty is not almost as severe.

In previous years when Woods did not meet the minimum, it was because of injury. The tournament issued a press release.

“I’m proud of that fact”, Mahan, 33, said on the eve of defending The Barclays title he won previous year at Ridgewood Country Club. I mean, it was cool to see.

“I certainly accept and acknowledge the regulations of the PGA Tour“. I was keep looking at the leaderboard.

He’s skipping the Barclays to rest and rehab a balky ankle that sidelined him for five weeks and prevented him from defending his British Open championship. He clearly was angling toward qualifying for at least the first two events, in which case he would be fine. They are the tour’s top 75 money winners, who wrap the regular season this week at handsome Pumpkin Ridge GC near Portland.

France’s Victor Dubuisson is in the same situation. “So playing tournaments regularly has helped me a lot this year”, the golfer said.

Graeme McDowell, who is from Northern Ireland, would have faced the same penalty had he not played 15 events. The last team to win, whether it’s the Super Bowl or World Series, is the champion.
