Back-to-Back Walk-Off Wins for the Padres!

San Diego Padres’ Christian Bethancourt does a forearm bash as he returns to the dugout after hitting a two-run home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the sixth inning of a baseball game Friday, May 20, 2016, in San D…

Combining to use 16 pitchers behind Dodgers’ starter Kenta Maeda and his counterpart in Padres’ starter Colin Rea, Ross Stripling eventually came away with the win while Luis Perdomo found himself on the wrong end of the decision.

“We needed that win”, Stripling said. Then things got a little nutty. “It’s an unbelievable team win”. You cannot expect to score two runs off of a home run and think you can win again.

After blowing the lead in back-to-back games, the Dodgers came back from a four-run deficit to avoid a potentially disastrous five-game losing streak. I’ll take a shot with the Padres to complete the sweep at home.

“I just felt like I was fighting myself for pretty much the whole game”, Kazmir said. He has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his eight starts but has lasted just five innings in each of his last two outings. Tonight the blame falls on LA releiver Chin-hui Tsao, who walked three Friars in a row to bring home the winning run in the eleventh inning.

“Melvin’s put some good at-bats on Kenley”, Roberts said. Roberto Osuna got four straight outs for his ninth save.

“I’ll consider this a good opportunity (to make adjustments)”. “He had a lot of confidence going into that at-bat and it showed”. Here’s my take this game had just about everything happen.

The Padres are 15-7 in games where they hit one or more home runs. The Dodgers added two more runs in on a wild pitch and a RBI groundout by Carl Crawford. But instead of making his way to third base with less than two out, Puig inexplicably stayed at second. “We all have our moments and mental errors”.

“Recently, I haven’t been able to persevere where I should”.

“I’m so excited I forgot all my English”, Solarte said.

The game would continue to go back and forth.

Howie Kendrick: 4-for-8 with a HR, two doubles and two runs scored.

Those were their only two runs of the game. He was on a fastball from Vargas, lining it over the wall in right center. Catcher A.J. Ellis tried to get him to third, laying down a bunt toward third base. A visibly upset Ellis yelled “C’Mon!” as he walked back to the dugout. Both teams play Monday night, with Los Angeles hosting the Cincinnati Reds at Dodgers Stadium and San Diego traveling to play the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park. Clayton Kershaw gets the ball in Game 1 at 7:10 PM PST. The San Diego Padres offense has struggled all year, but they have won seven of their last eight games when scoring more than three runs.

Solarte was activated earlier Saturday after being out since April 10 with a hamstring injury.
