Backlash After Hillary Calls Half Of Trump Supporters Bigots

Trump and his supporters quickly pounced on the remark, arguing that it revealed Clinton as disconnected from struggling Americans.

On Saturday morning, the clip was played countless times on television and online.

“To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables, ‘” Mrs Clinton said. “I regret saying “half” that was wrong”.

His campaign has criticized Clinton’s reset as “a massive diplomatic failure” and accused the Democratic candidate of getting “rolled” by Putin.

Clinton then pivoted and tried to characterized the other half of Trump’s supporters, putting them in “that other basket” and saying they need understanding and empathy. He made a statement on Saturday. The Clinton campaign’s initial response to the comment was to hunker down and hope it blew over, while her aides defiantly took to Twitter, noting some of Trump’s most vitriolic statements.

“Obviously, not everyone supporting Trump is part of the alt-right, but alt-right leaders are with Trump”, Merrill wrote.

Donald Trump has carved out a wider path to the Oval Office, as a number of states including Florida and OH are no longer considered likely wins for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project released Saturday.

“I have no problem pointing out the fact that Donald Trump and his campaign is drawing on some of the worst impulses, whether it’s racism or whatnot, that this country has ever seen”, Manley said.

“I’m determined to bring our country together and make our economy work for everyone, not just those at the top”, she said.

“Well, there’s phony strength and there’s real strength”, Clinton replied.

He later compared Clinton’s statement to Republican Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign gaffe, when he said that 47 percent of the people would vote for Barack Obama’s re-election because they are “dependent upon government”, and “believe that they are victims”. “Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it”. He stressed, “I think under the leadership of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the generals have been reduced to rubble – to a point where it’s embarrassing for our country”. “And that is fine if you are a reality TV star or you are a real estate developer”.

In a news conference in Laos, Mr. Obama stressed “I don’t think the guy’s qualified to be president of the United States, and every time he speaks that opinion is confirmed”. She told an Iowa crowd in January it was “one of the most tense days of my life”. “I was one who said I thought it was worth the risk”, Clinton said Thursday in Tampa.

Trump’s rhetoric, Clinton said, has only fueled the motivations driving ISIS. Supporters paid from $1,200 to more than $250,000 to attend.

Apparently according to Hillary, if a person holds traditional Christian values which teaches them that certain lifestyle choices and other behaviors are immoral, and that they should love the sinner but hate the sin, then they suffer from some sort of “phobia”. She is certainly unlikely to peel off any of Donald Trump’s supporters by calling some of them racists or homophobes, but they have stuck by their man through thick and thin. CNN said he had declined an opportunity for his own interview.

“I can tell you, without any doubt, that Donald Trump’s appointment to the Supreme Court are one of the few opportunities to protect the unborn”, Franks told Bloomberg Politics. It’s an imperfect world, so you kinda go with what you can get.

Tim Kaine, Clinton’s running mate, even argued to The Washington Post that she didn’t need to apologize.

Clinton has lit a fire here by attaching a specific figure to her claims – just as Romney did.
