Backlash grows against Trump over feud with soldier’s family
It is disturbing that Donald Trump is unable to graciously recognize the sacrifice and loss of the Khans, whose son, Army Capt. Humayun Khan, died in Iraq 12 years ago in defense of his fellow soldiers.

Donald Trump is fighting a battle against some military families Monday, as parents of fallen U.S. soldiers demand an apology for his feud with the parents of a decorated U.S. army captain.
During the Democratic National Convention last week, Khan spoke out against Trump’s call for a temporarily ban on all Muslims entering the US and pulled out a copy of the Constitution, offering to lend it to Trump.
Gold Star families are those that have lost a close relative in military service.
Meredith organized a letter to Trump that has been signed by 23 families so far.
Trump is refusing to back down, complaining anew that he had been “viciously attacked” by the Khans.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “All Americans should value the patriotic service of the patriots who volunteer to selflessly defend us in the armed services”.
Ghazala Khan has since fired back, saying that she had been invited to speak but was too upset to do so.
Former Donald Trump Adviser, Roger Stone, listens to host Jonathan Alter talk during an episode of Alter Family Politics on SiriusXM at Quicken Loans Arena on July 20, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. “That’s not what we’re doing right now”, says Christian Ferry, the campaign manager for Sen. “Unfortunately I’ve seen firsthand the ultimate sacrifices that Captain Khan and so many others who serve our nation have made”.
“Probably, Trump should have taken a pass on this”, Lee said.
Says The Hindustan Times, “Both Khan and Ghazala were born and brought up in Pakistan, and then moved to Dubai, where their two elder sons were born – Humayun was the second”. Sally Bradshaw, a former top aide to Jeb Bush, told CNN she was leaving the party to become an independent, slamming Trump as a “total narcissist – a misogynist – a bigot”.
President Obama addresses the 95th National Convention of Disabled American Veterans on Monday in Atlanta.
Obama explained that he specifically chose a Gold Star family to introduce him at the Democratic National Convention because he honored their service.
But Clinton’s fib barely broke through the sea of outrage that poured down on Trump Monday. “We owe them and their families the utmost respect”.
It had been a long day already, and she was quick to tear up when talking about her son.
Throughout this steady Trump-beat of insults, historical inaccuracies (Trump said this past weekend that Putin “is not going into Ukraine”, oblivious to the fact that Russia has already forcibly annexed Crimea, which is part of Ukraine) and a freaky endorsement of Russian hacking of USA computers, the Republican leadership has shown a distinct lack of spine.
“I’m not sure if this is going to have what they call ‘legs, ‘” Lee said.
“We’re in the political process of the greatest democracy on the planet Earth”, Khan said on PBS NewsHour, adding that criticism of a presidential candidate’s policies is “part of the political process”.

“I don’t want to hear from him and I don’t want to say anything to him”, Ghazala Khan said on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews.
