Falguni Brahmbhatt, who is representing Pratyusha’s parents, also brought into question Singh’s conduct on discovering Pratyusha’s body claiming that he had “touched the evidence instead of dialling 100”. It was initially alleged that she committed suicide, however no note was found and her family and friends have cast doubt over suggestions that she would take her own life.
Arguing for Rahul, his counsel Samir Sheikh said Pratyusha’s parents did not make any allegation against him in their first statement to police, then why did they file the FIR later. And also, before the police reached the hospital following Pratyusha’s suicide, why did Rahul run away?
“She was indebted and taken a personal loan of Rs 50 lakhs and did not have an assignment (professional) on hand”, Rahu’s application said. She hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in Goregaon and was immediately rushed to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where she was declared dead. However, they subsequently filed a police complaint, accusing Singh of physically and mentally abusing her over a six-month period.
Things got worse when Pratyusha learnt that Rahul was cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend Saloni Sharma, said Pratyusha’s lawyer. Rahul’s appeal for an anticipatory bail had been rejected by a Mumbai court. The 26-year-old woman had been keeping a track on the developments taking place in Pratyusha’s case, her husband Nakul revealed. Court has written to bank to give them the details of her account.
After hearing arguments from both parties, Judge Dr Khwaja Farooq Ahmed pronounced the ruling rejecting the anticipatory bail plea.

It added, “The prize money of reality show Power Couple was divided equally among the duo but Rahul gave 90 per cent of the money to Pratyusha out of love and as he was going to marry her”, the application states.
