Baines students’ pass rate delight

She also archived a B grade in PE and will study psychology at Durham University with the hope of becoming a music therapist.

“My family fosters so I have always looked after children so it seemed like the natural route to go down in terms of a job”.

Elena Huntley, pictured with her mum Isabelle, achieved an A* in art, a B in English and an A in AS photography, and is now planning to study a foundation diploma in art, media and design and Bridgwater College.

Munaib, 18, from Forest Gate, is one of three students at the college who will go onto one of the Oxbridge universities. I am delighted to see so many of our students achieving academic success.

“My mum was a lot more stressed than I was. I am going to go out for a meal to celebrate”.

Bella Barrington-Jones is having to postpone her celebrating for the night as she is moving house, but is proud to have achieved a B in maths, a C in further maths and an E in chemistry.

Kerry Kirkwood, principal at Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form, said: “These results are phenomenal”.

“We’ve had a high pass rate, with only four fails out of 645 exams”.

“But in the end, each student needs to rise to the individual challenges of their studies, and their examinations: they should be deservedly proud of their achievements”.

About 30 per cent of pupils at Harris Westminster Sixth Form, which is closely aligned with Westminster School, achieved A grades at AS, the first part of an A level.

“It’s a really wonderful day”.

Some had already checked online to find out if they had received their university places before they had found out their results.

” A number of students also have apprenticeships in the local area lined up”.

Global Baccalaureate students gained an average point score of 30.
