`Bajrangi Bhaijaan` Geeta’s family traced in Bihar, set to return home from

Deaf and mute Indian woman, Geeta, who was compelled to live in Pakistan after she accidentally crossed over to the other side of the border, has finally found her family, reports NDTV.

Shortly after news broke of Geeta identifying her family, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted: “Geeta will be back in India soon”. As soon as her documents are sorted, she is likely to be flown home after 12 years.

He said that Geeta hails from Bihar state of India, adding that arrangements have been finalized to send her home on October 26.

According to Faisal Edhi Indian embassy had sent a few photos to Geeta from which she recognized her relatives.

Aged in her early 20s, lives in a women’s shelter in Karachi run by the Edhi Foundation, Pakistan’s largest welfare organisation. “She will be handed over to them only after the DNA test”.

As Geeta’s story gained fresh media attention after the film, the Indian government vowed to bring her back in a movie-style happy ending.

Notably, the story of Geeta became more famous as it was similar with the one depicted in Salman Khan blockbuster “Bajrangi Bhaijaan“.

India’s High Commissioner (ambassador) to Pakistan T.C.A. Raghavan visited Geeta to collect preliminary information regarding her home and parents.
