He said: “I don’t buy the value stuff. I’m going to do the best showstopper I can, but I don’t think I’m going to – I don’t think it’s going to be…” she said, choking up. “We try to make one of the cakes at the weekend”. According to a report in The Sun, a few people “in the know” have been placing large bets on one of the contestants, leading to allegations of a “scandal” at the BBC.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes found that 42 new gambling accounts had been created by customers with links to the BBC and Love Productions, the company behind the hit TV show in which contests are judged on their baking prowess.

They said: “The people putting on these bets were not very clever and it was quite easy to see they were involved in TV once we did a few research”. But they aren’t that smart as they’ve been using their own names to open accounts.

“A quick Google and you can see that [some of them work] in television and have close links to the BBC and Great British Bake Off’s production company”, he continued.

“Lots of the other accounts appear to be owned by the friends and family of the culprits”.

“I was a bit nervous about how all the bakers would get on before I started the show – but there has been a great feeling of community as we have so much in common”, the 28-year-old said.

Over 10 million Viewers will find out the victor on Wednesday night with the Bake Off final between Nadiya Jamir Hussain, Tamal Ray and Ian Cumming.

A BBC spokesman today said: “We have no knowledge of these claims and have asked The Sun to provide us with details to be able to look into it. We are still waiting”. Hussain, the first woman to wear a hijab on the show, has previously spoken out about conceptions of what makes a person British.

“The most hard challenge had to be the chocolate soufflé, I just got myself into such a flap, that everything just went wrong”.
