A fourth victim walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound. As per the eyewitnesses, two gunmen came to the campus in a van, approached a group of people and opened fire.

Several people were shot Tuesday night, some fatally, on Fayette Street in downtown Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

The police are asking the public and the students to be aware of their surroundings and be cautious especially in the area where the shooting took place. The city has seen a spike in violence since the April death of Freddie Gray after his arrest. The incident sparked unrest across Baltimore and intensified a debate over how police treat minorities. Shootings have increased 86 percent.

However, there have been few if any recent occasions in which as many as three people were killed in a single incident, the newspaper noted.

A spokesman for the university says there’s no indication students were involved. The shooting happened in the 900 block of W. Fayette Street, according to a statement issued by the university. On Thursday, a passenger was injured when the rear window of a moving vehicle was shot.
