Baltimore Police Civilian Employee Arrested for Child Porn

FDLE agents executed a search warrant at his home and said they found multiple files containing child pornography on a personal computer belonging to him.

A detective was conducting an Internet check of people sharing child pornography on July 1. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

Investigators tracked the source to the home of 28-year-old Carl Ross in the unit block of Pelczar Avenue 21221. The Baltimore County Police Digital and Multi-Media Evidence Unit will conduct a detailed forensic examination.

The investigation began in June after agents determined that a computer located at his residence was sharing files online that contained child pornography. The investigation further revealed that Varnum possessed and received over 300 images and 10 videos of child pornography.

Investigators also discovered during that Ross had committed a sex offense against a 10-year-old girl, police said.

A Palm Bay man was arrested Tuesday for possession of child pornography.

Ross was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center Wednesday on $275,000 bail. He is now suspended.
