Bama not going into LSU game to be conservative

Alabama and LSU have played a good handful of important games in the SEC West over the past decade, and this one is no different. Henry did it all against an LSU defensive front that came into the game allowing just 3.3 yards per carry, which ranked 16th in the country. We can’t take those kinds of events.

Part of the disparity in the running backs’ performances was due to the difference in defenses. The Tide’s running game churned out 250 yards on 55 carries – 281 on 52 carries if you remove sacks – and Derrick Henry (38 attempts, 210 yards) is now in the thick of the conversation about college football’s most prestigious award. That’s no excuse. He’s a big back (and) a great back as we see.

Neither team has exceptional play at quarterback, but LSU’s Brandon Harris should be the best quarterback on the field tonight.

Jacob Coker has been serviceable at quarterback for Alabama, but he has also been turnover prone. His previous season low was 154 yards against Western Kentucky.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – Hit after hit, run after punishing run, Derrick Henry and Alabama’s defense stole the show and proved they belong squarely in the College Football Playoff hunt. The Tigers do not want to let him get going. It’s been a dismal stretch for both, as the Bulldogs have lost three of their last four (and haven’t scored a touchdown in two games) while the Wildcats are on a three-game losing streak after a 4-1 start, giving up an average of 41 points per game. Henry ran for 236 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries during the Tide’s win over Texas A&M October 17th, including 153 yards on nine carries in the first quarter.

“It couldn’t have happened at a better time against a very good defensive team”, coach Nick Saban said. The Rebels are the only team to have beaten the Tide.

This will be Miles’ 12th game against Alabama. He has 787. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Henry, whom CBS Sports ranks as the second-best National Football League prospect among draft-eligible running backs, has run for 1,044 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. That said, a lot has to change between now and then. Other than that, it was really a well-played game by our team.

Alabama kicker Adam Griffith made three field goals in the game, including a 55-yarder to end the first half.

Saban describes Henry as a “taller, longer” version of Fournette, adding that both players are incredibly competitive. “This has turned out to be a great rivalry, and I think it’s a great rivalry because of the quality of the programs”.

“It’s going to be fun”, Tide quarterback Jacob Coker said. Swatting away an LSU defender, he was finally dragged down 40 yards later on the 2-yard line. Lee picked off a Harris pass on the first play of the second half.
