“We welcome the December 25 visit between PM Modi and PM (Nawaz) Sharif”.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz said it would not be fair to expect instant resolution of all issues during the initial phase of the comprehensive dialogue between the foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India.
He said Modi’s visit has created hope that there will be one happy outcome, and if all goes well, the prime minister will undertake a visit to Pakistan next year for the Saarc summit.
He, however, added that all seeds of such a relationship are laid in “silence” and adding that a number of meetings, including the National Security Agency-level talks in Bangkok, Modi’s meeting with Sharif in Paris and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s visit to Pakistan helped create a conducive atmosphere.
Lu said Pakistan and India are important countries in south Asia and the improvement of their relationship will be significant to regional peace, stability and development.
“As we have long said, improved relations among neighbours will benefit the entire region”, spokesperson John Kirby said in a statement.
He said Nawaz Sharif should also have got the Quaid-i-Azam’s birthday cake cut by Narendra Modi prior to that of his own birthday. The chief minister further said that the Prime Minister was more focused on foreign policy than concentrating on national issues on which he rode to power. “And the PM said to him, ‘Please come, you are our guest, please come and have tea with me, ‘” Chaudhry said.
New Delhi, Dec.27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today will share his thoughts with the nation in the “Mann Ki Baat” programme which will be aired on the All India Radio (AIR).

Modi also met Sharif’s family and “blessed” his grand-daughter Mehrunnisa, whose wedding is taking place at Sharif’s residence.
